JW Anderson is always the designer I’m most excited to see on the London Fashion Week schedule—he can make a trench coat look cooler than anyone and an item like a cardigan look theatrical. But he also understands how to dress for the every day, as shown by his long-standing collaboration with Uniqlo. Today the designer has launched his spring collab with the high street brand, and he’s been inspired by the quintessential British summer uniform. The capsule plays with the print that he says will always remind him of his school days, gingham, with checked jeans, tote bags and tiered dresses. His hero item in the collection is the checked jeans and matching jackets, but we are just as into the Oxford shirts with bows on the collar and long-line trench coats.
